A Guide to Understanding our Tall Jean Sizes

We’ll be the first to admit – the sizing of our jeans online can be hard to navigate and understand. We promise we didn’t do this to you intentionally as some cruel kind of torture. We know how hard it is as tall women to find jeans as it is! But different denim brands use different sizing methodologies, and we have to stick by them when we set the product live on our website. So we’re going to walk you through how to find your perfect size fit on Amalli Talli. Then all you have to worry about is which inseam you want to buy; we offer jean options in 35"  and 37" inseam lengths.

Let’s get started!

Traditionally, there are 3 different types of sizing methods: #1) U.S. Standard Sizing: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. #2)Waist Sizing : 26, 27, 28, 29, etc. #3) Juniors Sizing: 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc.

Understanding the sizes:

#1) U.S. Standard Sizing

Although there are few brands that use this size system on our site, this is the system that we’ll use as a basis for comparison to understand the others, since most women know their U.S. standard size. But in case you’re shopping online with us internationally, don’t worry – we have you covered, too:

#2) Waist Sizing

This size methodology is probably the most widely used across denim brands, and is used by Mavi Jeans, our bestselling premium line of jeans. Mavi is known for their superior quality, fabric innovations and the perfect fit. Here’s the size conversion table by waist size:

Please note that sizes 31 & 33 do not typically match an exact U.S. size. These sizes are best if you often find your perfect fit falls between sizes, or your size frequently varies from brand to brand. #3) Junior's Sizing

This size methodology is labeled ‘juniors’ sizing because it is utilized by many junior brands (versus misses). However, this is not necessarily indicative of a junior fit. Case in point: RB jean brand, our top selling jean line - available in regular and plus-size options in 35” and 37” inseams. RB jeans focuses on designing comfortable, high-quality jeans at a fair price. Not only are they affordable, but they come in a wide range of sizes. They utilize ‘junior’ sizing, but their fit works for women of all ages, sizes and body types. If that wasn’t true, they wouldn’t be our top selling line. ‘Junior’ sizing is pretty simple – all you have to do is round up a size. So, if you’re normally a size 6, you would be a size 7 in their line. It does, however, get confusing when the sizes go past 19 into the 20’s. When sizes are listed as 21, 23, and 25, most women assume that’s waist size – but really, it’s the equivalent of a plus-size jean. Here’s a conversion chart to clear up any confusion (plus sizes in bold red font):
